I have had some amazing luck this year with the weather for the weddings I’ve shot – and Anna and Brian’s wedding totally followed suit. When I got up that morning, I could see the remnants of a harsh thunderstorm but by noon the skies had cleared and the sun was out in full force to dry everything up for their outdoor ceremony at the Rochester Hills Van Hoosen Museum. I think I might be good luck! C’mon, humor me. Either way, I had the chance to second shoot this wedding for Brett Maxwell and I was definitely looking forward to seeing the museum and the surrounding grounds. Everything was gorgeous!
Anna was just sheer calm that afternoon. She kept peeking out the window from the museum room in which she was getting ready to see if Brian was outside. She was nothing but excited – and glowing, of course.
Here are some of my favorites, starting with the amazing flowers and ponds and streams that surrounded the museum. It was really a breathtaking place to get married.
I loved the room Anna used to get ready – it had a great vintage feel to it and some beautiful windows to let in the glowing light of the day.
Anna really was amazingly calm. At this point, it was too early for her to head outside but she really wanted to get down there and get married!
Absolutely radiant!

I love the time just before any wedding ceremony begins. There is so much excitement and anticipation in the air that it’s almost palpable. All of the groomsmen were lined up and ready – and Brian looked like he was ready to jump out of his shoes! And look at this adorable flower girl!
After the ceremony, we walked around and got some great portraits as Anna and Brian just relaxed and soaked in the happiness. How fun!
