Emma & Bela – Portraits: A Day in the Michigan Snow!

“We’re going to the piano park!” Emma told me as soon as we mentioned heading outside for a bit of photo fun. She was so excited to walk to the park and play with the piano which is built into the playscape. But, until we stepped outside, it didn’t occur to me just how much Emma and her sister, Bela, might love the snow! These two little bugs are my cousin, Melissa’s, daughters and they are used to the balmy weather of South Carolina so it was a real treat for them to be able to get outside and make a couple of snowballs and trample through the snow on the way to and from the “piano park.” I was super impressed with their ability to bounce right back into their rugged Midwest roots and play outside for a relatively long time in the frigid wind! I had a great time at the park and found myself standing in awe so many times, like when Bela recited the entire Pledge of Allegiance start to finish (at only a few days shy of three-years-old!) and when Emma made the first snowball and the look on her face was sheer excitement. Melissa definitely had to ask more than once for Emma to come inside, she was totally loving it!

We started inside so we could get some images before their little noses turned red. I knew this was going to be a hilarious session as soon as I saw these faces come out! What a riot! Here you have Bela on the left and Emma on the right:

Who doesn’t love a candy necklace?

Or a big monkey?! I totally adore Emma’s face in these two, it reminds me how much I loved my teddy bear when I was little (or…umm…still today).

As soon as we walked by these coats, it was time to suit up and head to the piano park!

Once we got back home, Melissa made some hot chocolate for the girls to warm their bellies. They changed into their pajamas and then I sat back and laughed as this happened:

Thank you to my Aunt Ginette for arranging for us all to gather for photos and thank you, Melissa, for bringing the two sweetest little girls back to Michigan for the holidays. It was sooo awesome to see all of you and it was such a treat to capture some memories from your time at home. We’ll miss you until next time! Love you guys!
