The Little Things – Farmers Markets

Today was one of my favorite days of the year. It was the day of the annual Select Michigan Capitol Lawn Farmers Market in Lansing and, being a gigantic fan of farmers markets, I’m always excited to see what kinds of neat things they’ll have.

Umm…can I admit that I didn’t have my camera with me? I know. How lame. I cringe even typing it. So, it saddens me to have a post about a farmers market without images of pints of blueberries, raspberries, cherries, green tomatoes, and cherry tomatoes all sitting next to each other under handmade signs just waiting for their next magical adventure. But, alas, I do have a photo of the lovely bouquet I splurged on. And I splurged because it was just a little something that made my day a little brighter, a little more cheery. And that’s usually what farmers markets do for me. I love fresh things and the feeling of the community coming together to share the freshest things it has to offer.

So I left with a pint of blueberries, a pint of raspberries, and this fancy bouquet. Because they were all part of a little thing that transformed a whole day into something a little different, a little brighter, a little more cheery.

Sean - That’s excellent, Nicole! There’s really nothing quite like fresh fruit – so good! Sometimes it’s good to leave the camera behind and just enjoy it though, so don’t feel too bad!July 25, 2009 – 6:05 pm
