The Little Things – Tea

As soon as we got to the exit of the American Museum of Natural History and saw the downpour outside, we knew we needed to find a place to wait out the rain before we could continue taking in the sights around New York City. Sarah immediately called to mind Radiance, a small tea house in Manhattan, and I was thrilled. I love tea. I love the beautiful leaves and pearls. I love the teeny tiny cups and the ornate pots. I love the sound of tea being poured and of the kettle letting you know the water is ready. I love that tea creates a calm atmosphere. I love that tea creates friendships. Black tea, green tea, white tea – it’s all good.

Tea, for me, is one of the little things in life that makes me slow down. It makes me stop and enjoy my surroundings and helps me think clearly. It probably doesn’t hurt that tea makes me warm too.

So, we made our way to Radiance and spent the next couple of hours sipping a warm pot of White Peony tea, a delicious white tea that I, of course, was a sucker for since peonies are my favorite flowers. So three cheers for tea – one of the little things in life that makes me disproportionately happy!

Sean - 'That makes me disproportionately happy' Haha! Cute! Just the way you describe everything in this post, I'm going to have to find this place when I visit in a couple weeks! I'm so excited, I love your photos.. they're so cute!June 18, 2009 - 12:02 pm

Jason - If you like tea, Radiance is a great place to go. They really know tea and are true to their roots. I often go there to work on my website www.steepster.com. It's a site for tea lovers, where you can track the teas you drink and follow other tea drinkers to discover great new teas. If you're a tea drinker, you should check it out. And if you happen to be in Radiance again, keep an eye out for a couple of guys working on mac laptops (thats probably us) and have a cup of tea with us. Also, you should try Radiance's tea infused cookies and scones...really tasty!June 19, 2009 - 3:29 pm
